International Maritime Bureau Anti-Piracy Course 3rd November 2009 - Ex Socotra Table-top Exercise

Trident Operations, the Maritime Wing of RED CELL delivered a presentation on 'Dealing with a Hijack Incident - Operational Level' and ran Exercise SOCOTRA; the Table-top exercise.

The scenario-based exercise focussed on a commercial Tanker making a routine transit through the Gulf of Aden and took delegates through the process of a Hijack incident, exploring a range of issues faced by the Master and crew of a stricken vessel, as well as the important responses required from the corporate Incident Management Team.

Dorset Police 2012 Olympic Games Gold Level Counter Terrorist Exercise

RED CELL recently delivered a Gold Level, Maritime Counter Terrorist exercise to the Dorset Police 2012 Olympic Planning Team.

The exercise was delivered in a seminar format to approximately 50 delegates, included the Chief Constable of Dorset Police and a number of senior Gold, Silver and Bronze level police officers and key stakeholders.

The exercise comprised of a combination of specialist maritime threat presentations and a realistic scenario-based table-top exercise, that formed the platform to explore a number of maritime and land-based security threats to a 2012  Olympic Games venue.

RED CELL delivered the exercise with speakers and specialists from a number of fields including Counter Terrorism, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (land and maritime) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  High quality video media, employing security cleared news reporters was used to deliver realistic news broadcast serials and GIS after-action software was used to assist the review of discussion points and lessons learnt throughout the exercise.

Financial Times Media Group

A RED CELL consultant planned and delivered a one day Incident Management training exercise for the Financial Times Media Group as part of a teaming arrangement.

The exercise scenario focussed on a kidnapped journalist in a foreign country.  The exercise successfully practiced the Incident Management Team in time critical decision-making during a steadily escalating scenario.  The exercise identified procedural issues and technical functions that required improvement, which were articulated in a post exercise report and action plan.
